50 Days! (or 7 weeks, 1 day)

This baby is getting VERY VERY close to being here! 50 days till the due date. 7 weeks tomorrow. We can expect Squiggle to arrive any time in the next 5 - 9 weeks, although the hosp are unlikely to let me go over due so it's more 5 - 7 weeks. As little as 36 days! (Although one of the ladies on my forum who was due the week after us HAD her twins last weekend! Told Mark that and freaked him out.)

I'm in a bit of a flap to be honest. I'm not worried about the birth or anything like that, I'm worried that we don't have everything sorted. This morning I unpacked and then repacked my hospital bag, just to make sure that everything I think is in there actually is. Naturally it was... There are a couple more bits to go in (some more knickers, a toy for Jack "from Squiggle", bits n bobs) but nothing that I didn't already know about. I'm starting to fret that I haven't packed enough for Squiggle... Maybe a few more suits and vests? But I'm hoping that with this being our second child that I'll be in and out of hosp within 24-48 hours. Which means I have packed enough. And if not, Mark can always being me some more. (Must pack back-up bag!) I have found myself considering calling a midwife and asking how long I can expect to be kept in barring complications. I wont... I'll just ask next time I see one.

My biggest immediate worry is the house, which is still not ready. Mark went into the loft yesterday to measure up so we could buy the beams and boards he needs to sort the loft out. It's not possible to do things the way he wanted/assumed he be able to do them. So we're back to the drawing board with time running out. If this loft isn't sorted well before baby comes we'll have no where to put the crib and therefore no where for baby to sleep, either in our room or the nursery since both rooms are filled floor to ceiling with loft-tat.

And there are knock on effects to this. No loft = no space. No space means I cannot assemble the moses basket & crib, that means I cannot measure them and buy new mattresses. Squiggle will be without space OR a bed.

Gahh! Why is this never simple? Maybe by the tim we have baby #3 the house will be right (unless we choose to move that time!)
