As I'm sure you all know.... me and Yorkie have been trying for a baby for the last few months. For the last 3 months I have been taking clomid, which I have found to be great. I was due to have a break from it on my next cycle as it is only recommeded to be taken in 3 month blocks.
I have also signed up for the Fertility Friend website, which is ALSO great. It explains a lot about your body and how to read it to help with conception, starting with checking your resting body temperature and various other things.
I really wanted to be pregnant for my 30th birthday, which was the testing day for my last cycle. I'd had good temps both before and after ovulation, I'd had LOADS of symptoms of pregnancy. Everything was looking like I was getting my birthday wish, but it wasn't to be.
This cycle NOTHING looked like I was going to be pregnant. My temps were too high pre ov, too low post ov. I had no signs of pregnancy, and then I caught a NASTY cold which wrecked my temp readings.
But then I saw this little dip in my temp 10 days after ovulation, and that got me thinking. Many women get a single temp drop 9 - 11 days post ov which is that little eggy implanting itself into the womb.... Still didn't get my hopes up though. The rest of my temps were so far out I couldn't be preg. The rise in temp is caused by the hormone released in the early stages of preg. No temp rise, no preg.... But after this dip I started to rise very quickly!
Then I was late. I took a cheap eBay test (£2 odd for 20 of them) test and got nothing. Fertility Friend stated that my test date should be the 29th Sept, this was 5 days late. I'm never late.
I took another test on the evening of the 28th, telling myself it was a was being daft and chucking my money away. This one was an Asda home brand. The same brand I used when I found out about Jack. I was still technically too early to test. I was 9 days late with jack before I got a positive test, and got that in the morning. Evening reading are often to weak in the early stages to show up.
But I got a faint line.....!
I went down to Yorkie and said "You know how you married a stupid, impulsive woman, who wants everything yesterday? Well, I took that test early.... and can you see that line???"
Since then I have done a *few* more... including a Clear Blue Digi, which doesn't have lines. It says "Pregnant" and 1-2 weeks.... no miss reading THAT
My Hubby is chuffed, but like last time, it isn't going to sink in until we see that 12 week scan - which wont be until mid November. We're calling it Squiggle for now because the images of what baby will look like at this early stage look like little pink squiggles.
I've already told Jack he is going to be a big brother, and that it is a very important job. But that he will always be my first baby, my first boy, and we will love him no matter how many brothers and sisters he has. I think he's going to be a brilliant big brother!
