I'm Back!

It didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Don't worry, there's nothing wrong!

Midwife was happy to see us. She let Mark have a listen to baby's heart beat (he hadn't heard it so far) checked my blood pressure and pee (all good) and suggested that we didn't bother to make another apt as we might be getting induced, she said she's see us with the new baby afterwards instead, although if there was no sign of baby next week I could try and tag on to the end of the surgery if I wanted to.

The consultant - once again - opted not to see me herself and we saw the same nice woman as last time instead, which I am happier about anyway. I wouldn't have put it past the consultant to be unnessessarily rough during the examination...

For some reason it hadn't twigged that this examination was the same as a "sweep". It should have done, but I just didn't put 2 and 2 together. Regardless of name though it didn't have a good result. This baby is, to use the phrase she did, "no where near" my pelvis. i.e. Not engaged AT ALL and showing NO signs of coming out on it's own. I am gutted. So often these sweeps result in waters breaking and labour starting and I was really hoping this might be the case. And it's not.

So we talked about inductions. And I have agreed. BUT this is not me stepping down from my determination on the matter (well, not 100% anyway). The induction is for 1 weeks time (Wed 2nd June) which is only 3 days before my due date, 6 days longer than Jack stayed in me, and (more to the point) can EASILY take at least 3 days to actually result in a baby.... 3 days. My due date! HA HA!! So I guess we're all happy about that, me and my consultant!

Mark is hoping that baby may come on it's own before that, but given how far away from being engaged this baby is I find it unlikely, although I would LOVE to be proved wrong, believe me!

So now the plan is that my mum comes over on Tues evening and will stay until baby is here to look after Jack. 8am Wed morning Mark and I go up to Delivery Suite and they start the induction. Then it's just a waiting game.... something along the line of a pessary when I get there, examination 8 hours later and a second pessary if required. If nothing happens after that I'll be put on a drip. Mark has been asked to work that week - although Wed is the day he would have off anyway - and I have said he may as well continue to work and I can contact him when things start to progress and I find that I need him. He'd only be fed up waiting around delivery suite anyway. No point in both of us being board if he can earn a little dosh.

Must get to the library and get myself some more books out, and maybe buy a new puzzle book too.... Get the idea I think this is going to take a while??
