Trying Angus Castus

Since it could still be a good long while before I get to the fertility clinic (which is fair enough with my 3 kids already here) I've decided to try some herbal help!

I do like my herbal supplements for certain things like my tendency to suffer from SAD. It's the time of year when that kicks in, and since I'm feeling down over TTC as well, I popped to Holland & Barrett for my Starflower caps (great for hormone imbalances and generally lifts my spirits when it's dark and depressing out) and on the shelf near by was some Agnus Castus... And I thought "why the hell not?!"

Why do I want to use Agnus Castus?

To be honest, I've heard about it being used so much on pregnancyforum.org.uk that I thought I would give it a whirl. It's going to be a good long while until I get any Clomid - if I get any - and so far all the signs point to my problem being hormonal. My hormones are out of balance and that means I can't ovulate until they are back in the right balance.  My Starflower might help with that a bit, some people say it will, but there's not enough evidence to back it up. The studies done on Angus Castus are a bit more solid, but its far from a guaranteed miracle pill!

Here's a bit of blurb about Agnus Castus

from http://www.marilynglenville.com/womens-health-issues/infertility/

Agnus castus works to restore hormonal balance and can be used where there are hormone deficits as well as excesses. It:
  • Regulates periods
  • Restarts periods which have stopped
  • Helps with heavy bleeding
  • Increases the ratio of progesterone to oestrogen by balancing excess oestrogen
I'm not expecting anything to come of it really, but I feel happier giving something a go. After all, both the Clomid and the Agnus Castus will try to do the same thing: get my hormones back in balance and encourage those eggies to get moving! Who knows, it might just work!
