Asking for Clomid

I went to see the doctor today in the hope that I might be able to get some more clomid, since I was given some after having my first baby and my cycles not returning properly.

Sadly she said no.

It seems that since I last asked for it back in 2009 the regulations have changed. Why? Because too many people had abused clomid and the sued when things went wrong.

The thing with clomid, as my doc explained to me 4 years ago, is that you can only use it for a short time. It does stimulate the ovaries to release eggs, but it also thins the lining of the womb. The longer you take it, the thinner the lining, the less likely a fertilised egg is to be able to implant securely resulting in increased chances of early miscarriage or chemical pregnancy. I was told to take it for just 3 cycles, then wait a minimum of one but ideally three cycles to try again. I was lucky and caught on the third cycle.

Too many people apparently don't do this and continue taking it with out a break, miscarry and then try to take the doctors to court over it.

So this is what she has suggested I do: I go back in 3 weeks for a "21 day blood test" where my hormone levels will be checked to see if I am at least trying to ovulate. She also said, after I gave her the details of my cycles since coming off the implant, that it looks like my body is trying to get back to normal. She is hopeful that I won't need help, and so am I since I won't qualify for any until I've been actively trying for a year. This doesn't fit in with my dream of a Pre Sept 2014 baby.

I'm gutted about no clomid, I was so sure it wouldn't be a problem. But on the plus side the doc things I'm settling down and won't need help. I hope she's right! My next expected fertile window starts at the beginning of September. I have my ovulation kits ready and waiting!!!
