My GTT ... (Part 3)

The hospital called while I was out with Jack. Luckily I had already told them that they can tell Mark anything they would tell me so there was no need for secret coded messages and calling back.

I was to go to the Diabetes Clinic at 2pm today.

Great..... Even though I am borderline I am (it seems) on the wrong end of borderline. 7.9 is as high as they will accept and I am 8.1. Not much of a difference, but there none the less. I'm to test my blood 6 times a day; once before each meal and again 2 hours later.

So we had a chat about my diet. Apparently scoffing a ton of jelly babies every week and having up to 2 bowls of honey loops a day is not good.... Neither, it seems, is the cherry cola I have been drinking or the chocolates I have been munching or even the fresh fruit juice I have been drinking! I side stepped the question about take-aways.

Modifying my diet will help. It's been suggested I swap honey loops for weetabix, but with no sugar and only a small amount of fruit to make it palatable. Jelly babies etc are to be cut to a minimum (I can measure a sensible amount with blood tests). I'm to stick to the sugar free squash we do normally drink (and no more cherry cola) and keep fruit to a sensible level too (which means more veg instead). No more take-aways. Smaller portions of carbs with meals. Fewer bedtime rounds of toast.

It's taking away all the fun of eating what you want when preggers!

There's been no real indication about if this baby will be brought on early or not, too early to say with 2 more scans to come. The MW I saw today measured me and let me listen to the heartbeat. She says I am way above the normal range, and that my placenta is up at the front.... 3 weeks ago I was normal and had no issue with my placenta so I am unsure about this and will wait until I am scanned again before I let myself get stressed about any of that. Also at my last scan baby was normal sized and the placenta was round the back. I'm thinking she made a mistake today. (I hope she has anyway)

Anyway.... I'm back to the clinic again next week, and I'll be getting scanned either Tue or Wed next week too so I'll know more then.
